Toronto, ON – (Aug. 9, 2024) – League1 Canada is pleased to confirm the winner of the 2024 Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship will earn a berth in the 2025-26 Concacaf W Champions Cup,

The news was officially announced by Canada Soccer, the national governing body for soccer in the country, earlier on Friday.

The Concacaf W Champions Cup is an annual tournament that includes the best clubs from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean and crowns the region’s women’s club champion. The tournament is also the sole path through which clubs in Concacaf can qualify for the new FIFA Women’s Club World Cup, which FIFA has committed to launching in the near future.

This marks the second year the winner of the League1 Canada Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship will represent Canada at the Concacaf W Champions Cup. Vancouver Whitecaps FC qualified for the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup as the winner of the 2023 Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship. The squad will face Salvadoran side Alianza Women FC in the preliminary round of Concacaf W Champions Cup play at Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador on Thursday, Aug. 15.

League1 Canada is an alliance of Canada’s provincial Division III Pro-Am women’s and men’s soccer leagues: Ligue1 Québec, League1 Ontario, League1 Alberta and League1 BC. The Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship launched in 2022 and offers the opportunity for top tier female clubs within the League1 Canada alliance to compete on a national stage for the first time.

“Our goal in creating this competition was to provide further competitive opportunities for Canada’s top female talent. The chance for one of our clubs to represent Canada regionally adds extra incentive as we go into what already promises to be an exciting weekend for women’s soccer in Canada.”

The third iteration of the League1 Canada Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship will be contested at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ont. on Friday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 11.

League1 Ontario champion NDC Ontario will host Ligue1 Québec champion CS Mont-Royal Outremont in the first of two semifinals on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT. League1 champion Whitecaps FC Girls Elite will subsequently host League1 Alberta champion Calgary Blizzard in the competition’s second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT.

The winner of each semifinal will advance to the Championship Final on Sunday, Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT, where they will also compete for the coveted 2025-26 Concacaf W Champions Cup berth. The other two teams will compete in a third-place match at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT that day.
